Some routes are a perfect balance of terrain and distance. This is one such route and starts from near Quernmore. It a good 2.5 to 3 hour run, fast tracks but plenty of climbing as well.
Being a wednesday morning I had the route to myself, not seeing a single person on the entire run. A male grouse with it's bright red comb (breeding season coming up) must have seen me as some kind of threat as it chased me up the first hill for a good 50 metres. The sheep didn't follow me today - they must have been fed. After 6 days rest the running felt easy today, and the first 10kms took exactly 1 hour, over 2 minutes faster than last time. And with the overall average of 5.38 minutes per kilometre this was my fastest ever Bowland run.
